here’s a little tutorial on how to make a manip like the one below
i use photoshop cs3 just in case you were wondering lln
first open up two pictures you’d like to manip together. the best for manips are night candids (which are pictures of celebrities taken by paparazzi) because you can blend stuff together easier than in day candids. if it’s your first time making a manip i suggest you use night candids.
now, after opening the pictures look for the one that is larger in size. you can usually tell this by looking at this little part:
the bigger one for these two pictures is the one on the left (the 12.5 one lol). you want to know this because you’re going to drag the bigger picture onto the smaller picture. why? because it’s easier to make a bigger picture smaller than a smaller picture bigger. u feel me?
so drag the bigger picture onto the smaller picture. below you can see i did that lol
now lower the opacity on the picture you just dragged onto (it should say layer 1). lower it to the point where you can see the picture beneath it but can still see the picture that you’re lowering the opacity of
it’ll look like this:
this way, you can see which areas you need to erase and whatnot.
now you’re going to need to make the picture you dragged on smaller so it’ll look more believable. press CTRL+T (make sure layer 1 is still selected) and a box should show up like in the picture below. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LITTLE CHAIN THING CLICKED BECAUSE IF YOU DON’T YOUR PICTURE WILL BECOME STRETCHED AND UGLY. the chain thing is right next to the w: 100.0% thingy (wow rae you’re good at explaining things) now move the little boxes on the outside of the box to make your picture smaller. you can also drag the picture and move it to where you want it to be.
below you can see i resized layer 1 and also dragged it onto the right of the other harry
press enter and the box will go away. i didn’t like how the harry’s were so far to the right so i unlocked the background image and moved it more to the center and also moved the layer 1 harry over a bit. don’t worry about those little box thingy’s once you make the opacity 100% again you won’t even see them because layer 1 harry is covering them.
begin erasing the unwanted areas of your image. you can tell what is unwanted (like layer 1 harry’s background is covering background harry so erase that and background harry will start to show up in full color. you can tell if the layer 1 is going over something because it’ll have a dark tint to it. am i making sense omfg???) so yeah erase those areas and once the picture underneath is like almost fully visible you can turn the opacity back to 100% and see the areas you still need to erase. below is my finished product. crop what you don’t want and yada yada. don’t forget to sharpen each layer! slap on a psd (preferably a psd that doesn’t brighten the image because if it’s a bright psd it’ll make the parts where you can tell it’s a manip more see able)
and there you have it! if you have any questions or are confused don’t be afraid to come to my ask :-)
